CLIP,BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH
Retaining clip for the rear brake light switch on the swinging fork and suspension assembly.
This is the small clip that holds the rear brake light switch in place on the swinging fork and suspension unit assembly. It's a simple piece of hardware, but without it the switch can work its way loose or lose its spring tension, and you end up with a brake light that flickers or doesn't come on when you'd expect it to.

In the parts books it's listed as PN 82-5412, with F5412 as the earlier alias, and it turns up in the swinging fork and suspension figure across catalog entries running from 1964 to 1968. It's a piece that's easy to overlook when you're going through the rear brake linkage, but if you're chasing an intermittent brake light or reassembling the switch and rod, it's worth having a fresh one on the bench.
It's a small, inexpensive item, so if you're already in there working on the rear brake switch or rod, it doesn't hurt to replace it rather than reuse a tired one.
