Inlet valve guide

Inlet valve guide for Triumph's 650 twin cylinder head, fitted in the 6T, T110, and TR6 head castings.

PN · 70-2899
Available in 3 sizes:

70-2899 is the inlet valve guide for Triumph's 650 twin cylinder head, showing up across the 6T, T110, and TR6 family in the cylinder block and head figures. It's the sleeve pressed into the head that the inlet valve stem rides in, keeping the valve centered as it opens and closes and giving it a wear surface separate from the softer aluminum of the head casting itself.

This part carried the E2899 designation in the older letter-prefix numbering before the shop moved to the 70-2899 form, so if you're working from an older parts book or a decades-old parts list that's the number you may see instead. It shows up in catalog listings spanning 1960 through 1971 across the 6T and TR6 head castings.

When a guide like this wears, you get valve wobble, uneven seating, and eventually a head that won't hold compression on that cylinder no matter how well the valve and seat are cut. If you're rebuilding a head, it's worth checking bore diameter on the old guide against a new one before assuming it's fine to reuse.
