Washer
A 5/16 inch Thackery double-spring washer used at various bolted joints across the Triumph/BSA lineup, including air cleaner mounts, exhaust clamps, and handlebar mountings.
This is a 5/16 inch Thackery washer, the double-spring type that Triumph and BSA used where you want some give and resistance between the fastener and the fitting but don't want the whole joint locked down solid. It shows up across a few different jobs in the catalog, including the air cleaner and side panel mounts, the exhaust pipe and muffler clamps, and the handlebar mounting and steering damper assembly.

The part carries the number 60-2438 now, replacing the earlier factory number 82-2277 - same washer, just renumbered along the way, and it's also listed under D2438. It's a small piece of hardware but it's the kind of thing that keeps a bolted joint from working itself loose over time without seizing everything up tight, which matters on parts that need to flex or fold, like a pillion footrest.
If you're chasing one of these down for a specific job on your bike, check your parts book against the figure titles above - air cleaner, exhaust, or handlebar mounting - to make sure it's the fitting you're after. It's cheap enough to keep a couple in the parts drawer.
