Throttle valve (state cutaway)

Amal carburetor throttle valve (slide), part 389/060, for the TR6/T120 carb fitted to those Triumph twins in the mid-1960s.

PN · 389/060

389/060 is an Amal throttle valve, sometimes called a slide, from the concentric or monobloc carburetor fitted to Triumph TR6 and T120 models covered in these catalogs. The valve rides up and down in the carb body and its cutaway shape controls how much air/fuel mixture passes through at small to medium throttle openings, working together with the needle and needle jet to shape the response off idle.

The catalog notes this one by cutaway rather than a single fixed size, so there may be more than one cutaway variant sold under related numbers depending on which carb body and tune it was matched to. If your carburetor has a different cutaway stamped on the slide than what you're ordering, the throttle response off idle will be affected, so it pays to check what's currently fitted before swapping one in.

This part shows up across catalog entries for TR6 and T120 machines from the mid-1960s. If you're not sure which cutaway your carb needs, bring in the old slide or the carb itself and we can match it up at the counter.
