AXLE WASHER 3/4 PLAIN @ SPEEDO DRIVE

Plain flat washer fitted at the rear wheel speedo drive, part number 37-1280 (also W1280).

PN · 37-1280

This is the plain axle washer that sits at the speedo drive end of the rear wheel, part number 37-1280, also known by the older W1280 designation. It's a flat spacer washer that fits over the axle at the rear hub, taking up clearance between the speedometer drive gearbox and the axle nut so everything seats and torques up properly.

It shows up across a long run of rear wheel and quickly-detachable rear wheel figures in the parts books, spanning 1964 through 1974 catalog listings, which tells you this is a part that stuck around largely unchanged for a good while. Given how many times it appears in the records, it's clearly a common wear-and-replace item whenever the rear wheel comes apart.

It's a simple piece but easy to lose track of or damage when pulling the wheel, so if you're doing a rear hub rebuild or swapping the speedo drive it's worth having a spare on hand. Confirm fitment against your own parts book before ordering since rear wheel hardware varies by year and wheel type.
