BSA Nut, footrest, left-hand (7/16" B.S.C. left-hand thread)
Left-hand thread 7/16 inch B.S.C. nut for securing the left footrest.
29-5839 is the left-hand footrest nut, a 7/16 inch B.S.C. fastener cut with a left-hand thread. It's the nut that secures the left footrest to its mounting stud on the frame, and the left-hand thread is there on purpose so the nut doesn't work itself loose from the rotation of normal riding.

This one shows up in the catalog across footrest-related figures, including frame and battery carrier layouts, the folding footrest and crankcase shield setup, and handrail/support rail arrangements, so it served more than one footrest configuration over its run. Because it's a left-hand thread, don't try to swap it in for a standard right-hand nut off the other side of the bike, and don't force it against a mismatched stud.
If you're rebuilding a footrest mount and aren't sure which side you're holding, check the thread by feel before you thread anything on. Give us a call if you want to confirm which footrest assembly this one belongs to before ordering.
