Contact set

Contact breaker points for the timing cover ignition setup, PN 99-1266.

PN · 99-1266

This is a contact set, the breaker points that live under the timing cover on the front of the motor. It's the part that opens and closes to trigger the spark at the right moment, and it's a normal wear item — the points burn and pit over time and need periodic replacement or at least a gap check and dress.

Our catalog record ties this one to the timing cover and contact breaker area, appearing in entries spanning 1976 to 1978. If you're not sure your bike matches that catalog window, give us a call and we'll confirm before you order.

Keep a spare set in the toolbox if you ride any distance — points failure is one of the more common roadside breakdowns on bikes still running this type of ignition.
