Steering damper rod ¢/w knob

Steering damper rod with knob for the steering head/front fork friction damper, PN 97-3875 (also listed as H3875).

PN · 97-3875

The 97-3875 is a steering damper rod complete with knob, the part that runs down through the steering head and lets you tighten up the friction damper against the frame. Turning the knob squeezes the damper plates together, which stiffens up the steering feel at speed or loosens it off for slow work like parking lot maneuvers.

It shows up in the STEERING HEAD and FRONT FORK sections of the parts books, which is where you'd expect it since the damper assembly sits right at the top of the steering stem. The older book listing for this one is H3875, so if you're working from an early parts book that's the number you'll see instead of 97-3875 - same physical part either way.

Our catalog record ties this to appearances across 1970 to 1972, so check that against your own machine's book before ordering. If you're missing the knob or the rod is bent or seized, this is a straightforward one-piece swap.
