Binnacle

Handlebar-top binnacle housing for the oil warning light and control lever area, cataloged 1969-1970.

PN · 97-2297

The binnacle is the housing that sits on top of the handlebars between the two switch clusters, carrying the warning lights and, on some setups, the ignition switch. On these machines it ties in with the oil warning light and the control levers up front, giving the top of the bars a finished, integrated look rather than a scatter of separate lamps and brackets.

This one, 97-2297, shows up in the parts books under the figure covering the handlebar, binnacle, control levers, and oil warning light, with catalog appearances running 1969 to 1970. It also carries the older H2297 form for anyone working from an earlier parts list.

If you're replacing one, check what's actually mounted in yours before ordering since binnacles from this era can differ in what they carry and how they're drilled. The catalog record here doesn't spell out those details, so give us a call and we'll help confirm fitment before you buy.
