Clip, element
A retaining clip that holds the air filter element in place inside the air cleaner assembly.
This is the clip that holds the air filter element in place inside the air cleaner assembly. It shows up in the catalog under the AIR CLEANERS AND SIDE PANELS figure, so its job is keeping the filter element seated where it belongs rather than rattling loose or shifting under vibration.

It's a small, inexpensive piece of hardware, the kind of thing that's easy to lose track of when an air cleaner gets pulled apart for cleaning or a filter swap. Catalog records place it in the early-to-mid '70s range.
If you're reassembling an air cleaner and this clip is missing or bent up, it's worth grabbing a replacement rather than trying to make do without one, since a filter element that isn't held secure can shift out of position.
