SPRING FOR SEAT LATCH 71-72
Leaf spring for the seat latch assembly, keeps tension on the catch lever so the seat stays locked shut, 1971-72.
This is the small leaf spring that lives behind the seat latch on the frame, part number 83-2597, also listed under the older F12597 number. It's a simple piece but it does the job of keeping tension on the latch lever so the seat catch stays put once you've closed it down.

The catalog places it with the frame, battery carrier, and engine shield parts, which is where the seat latch mechanism mounts on these bikes. Without this spring holding tension, the latch lever can lose its grip and let the seat pop loose or rattle around under you.
Catalog listings tie this one to 1971-72. It's a cheap piece to keep around if your latch has gone soft or the seat's started working loose - worth checking before you assume the whole latch assembly needs replacing.
