CORK WASHER 1/8 THICK - GASKET FUEL CAP TRIUMPH
Cork gasket for the fuel filler cap, 1/8 inch thick, seals the cap against the tank.
This is the cork gasket that seals the fuel filler cap against the top of the tank. It's a simple 1/8 inch thick cork washer that sits under the cap, and its job is straightforward: keep petrol from weeping out around the cap threads or seat, and keep it off your paint. Cork takes a set over time and can dry out, crack, or shrink, which is usually when tank owners start noticing a fuel smell or a stain forming around the filler.

This one shows up across a long run of gas tank and petrol tank figures in the parts books, and also turns up on oil tank listings, so it's a gasket Triumph used in more than one filler-cap application over the years. It's listed under the number 82-4048, with F4048 as another form of the same part.
If your cap uses a thinner gasket, there's a distinct part for that — 82-4048A — so it's worth checking what you're pulling off the bike before ordering. Otherwise this is a straightforward swap and a good one to keep on hand since cork gaskets don't last forever sitting on a filler cap exposed to fuel and weather.
