BSA Circlip, mainshaft bearing

A retaining circlip for the gearbox mainshaft bearing, keeping the bearing seated in the gear cluster.

PN · 76-0528

This is a circlip that locates on the gearbox mainshaft, holding the mainshaft bearing in place inside the cluster. It's a small retaining ring, the kind of part that does its job quietly and only gets attention when someone's got the gearbox apart and needs to replace one that's lost its spring or gotten buggered up coming off with pliers.

In the parts books this one turns up under the gear cluster and footstart/footchange sections, which tells you it lives in the gearbox internals rather than anywhere on the outside of the case. The catalog also lists it as 76-528, same part, just the shorter number form some books use.

Our record on this one is brief - catalog entries for 1969-1970 don't spell out size or material, so if you're ordering, have your gearbox cluster in front of you or give us a call and we'll help confirm you've got the right one before it ships.
