BSA Breather pipe, inner timing cover
Breather pipe for the inner timing cover area, venting crankcase pressure off the gearbox side of the engine.
This is the 75-0257 breather pipe that lives with the inner timing cover on the gearbox side of the engine. Ed's records show it turning up in the FOOTSTART AND FOOTCHANGE and GEAR CLUSTER figures, so it sits down in the gearbox area rather than up top on the barrel or head. Its job is straightforward: it gives crankcase pressure a controlled path to vent, which keeps seals and gaskets from getting pushed out under running pressure.

The catalog also lists it under 75-257, which is just the same part number without the dash - same physical piece, so don't let that trip you up if you see it written either way in an old parts book.
Our records tie this one to catalog appearances from 1969 to 1970, but we don't have anything more specific pinning it to one exact model. If you're not sure this is the right breather pipe for what you're working on, give the shop a call and we'll sort out fitment before you order.
