Sump plate
The sump plate that closes off the bottom of the oil-carrying section of the frame on oil-in-frame Triumph twins.
This is the sump plate for the oil-in-frame Triumph twins, the plate that bolts to the bottom of the frame's front downtube where the frame itself doubles as the oil tank. It sits low on the bike and forms the base of the oil reservoir, so it takes the drain plug and seals the bottom of that oil-carrying section of frame closed. Catalog listings tie it to the OIL FILTER AND OIL FEED PIPES and OIL AND BREATHER PIPES figures, which fits with its job of keeping the frame oil supply contained and letting the plug be pulled for draining.

Our catalog data shows this part appearing in entries spanning 1983 to 1985. If your parts book shows a different but related plate number, it's worth double-checking against what's actually on the bike before you order, since these plates and their drain plugs need to match up correctly to seal properly.
When you're replacing this one, check the condition of the mating surface on the frame and make sure the drain plug and washer you're using are the correct match for this plate. A warped or pitted plate won't seal right no matter how good the plug is.
