PRIMARY GASKET 3TA/T100
Primary chaincase gasket for the 3TA/T100, part number 71-1456, later replaced by 70-4156.
This is the primary chaincase gasket listed for the 3TA and T100 models, part number 71-1456. It seals the primary chaincase, the cover that houses the primary drive chain and clutch, keeping the oil bath inside where it belongs and dirt outside where it belongs. The catalog shows it under the CHAINCASE AND CHAINS figure, and it also carries an older alias number, 67T 1/64, from the earlier parts-book format.

Our records show this gasket was later replaced by a newer factory part number, 70-4156, so if you're working from a more recent parts book you may see it listed that way instead. Either number points to the same physical gasket doing the same job on the chaincase.
Gaskets like this one are a routine replace-on-reassembly item any time the chaincase cover comes off for clutch or primary chain work. Given how thin and specific these gaskets run, it's worth having one on hand before you pull the cover rather than discovering afterward that the old one tore on the way out.
