Exhaust tappet guide
Exhaust-side tappet guide block that houses the cam followers in the lower engine, part number 70-5861.
Part number 70-5861 is the exhaust tappet guide block, sometimes called E5861 in the older parts books. It's a pressed-fit block that carries the tappets (cam followers) that ride against the camshaft and transfer motion up to the pushrods, on the exhaust side of the engine. You'll find it listed in the OIL PUMP, RELEASE VALVE, MANIFOLD AND TAPPETS figure, which puts it right in among the oil pump and manifold hardware in the lower end of the motor.

Because this block guides the tappet stems and lines up with the pushrod ends, fit and alignment matter when it's pressed back into the cylinder block. Our catalog record only ties this part to the 1967-1968 range across its appearances, so if your engine falls outside that window, check the casting and dimensions against what you've got before ordering.
We don't have a lot more written down on this one beyond the figure it appears in and the years it shows up in our records. If you're not sure whether it matches your cylinder block, give us a call and we'll help sort out fitment before you commit to it.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
