Oil control ring
Triumph oil control ring (70-3831, also E3831) from the crankshaft and connecting rods section of the parts books.
This is a Triumph oil control ring, listed under 70-3831 with the older E3831 form showing up in earlier parts books. It sits in the piston, doing the job of scraping excess oil off the cylinder wall so it drains back down rather than getting burned in the combustion chamber.

It shows up in the crankshaft and connecting rods section of the parts books, which is where Triumph grouped piston and ring components along with the rotating assembly. The catalog record spans appearances from 1964 to 1966, but we don't have a specific model or engine size tied to it in our records.
If you're rebuilding a top end and pulling pistons anyway, this is one of those parts worth checking closely for wear along with the rest of the ring set. Give us a call and we'll confirm which piston and bore size you're working with before you order, since ring fitment has to match up exactly.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
