Rocker stud, CEI, alloy head — also sump stud (replaces 31-0222, 67-0280)
Rocker box stud, CEI alloy-head thread, also used as a sump stud; replaces 31-0222 and 67-0280.
This is a rocker box stud, 70-2980, listed as CEI thread for the alloy head, and the catalog also notes it does duty as a sump stud. It replaces the earlier 31-0222 and 67-0280 numbers, so if your parts book or an old invoice shows either of those, this is the current equivalent. It also shows up under the E2980 form in older listings.

These studs thread into the head casting and hold the rocker box down, or in the sump application, secure the sump plate. They take a fair bit of heat cycling over the years and it's common for the threads to gall or for the stud to snap off flush if someone's leaned on a socket wrench without penetrating oil first.
Our catalog record only shows this appearing once, tagged to the mudguards figure, which is likely a filing quirk rather than where the part actually lives — treat that as noise and go by the rocker box/sump description instead. If you're renewing a full set of rocker boxes, worth checking how many studs you need before ordering just one.
