CRANK PINION 500 TWIN
Crank pinion gear for the Triumph 500 twin engine, off the crankshaft in the timing chest.
70-1771 is the crank pinion for the 500 twin engine, the gear that sits on the end of the crankshaft in the timing chest. It's part of the crankshaft and connecting rods group in the parts books, and it's the piece that transmits drive off the crank into the timing gear train. The older book reference for this same part is E1771, so if you're working from an early parts list that's the number you'll see.

This one shows up across a long run of catalog listings, from the mid-60s into the mid-70s, all under the 500 twin heading. If you're rebuilding a timing chest on a 500 twin, this is the gear to check for wear on the teeth and for a good fit on the crank taper or shaft before you put it back in service.
We don't have more detail on this one beyond what's in the parts book entry, so if you've got questions about which exact application yours needs, give us a call and we'll sort it out before you order.
