FIBER WASHER 1/2X11/16
A 1/2 x 11/16 in fiber sealing washer used at oil or fuel fittings, later superseded by 70-8896.
This is a fiber washer, 1/2 x 11/16 in, listed in the catalog under 70-0697 (also shown as 70 0697 or E697 in older references). It shows up in the petrol and oil tank listings as well as the crankcase figure, which tells us it's used as a sealing washer somewhere in the oil or fuel system plumbing rather than as a structural fastener washer.

Fiber washers like this one are used under banjo fittings, plugs, or union nuts to give a soft seal that won't damage the surrounding metal when torqued down. Because this one turns up in both the tank and crankcase sections, it likely sees duty at more than one fitting on the bike, but our records don't spell out exactly which bolt or union it goes under.
The factory later superseded this part with 70-8896, so if you're working from a newer parts book or a NOS bin, that's the number you may find it under instead. Call the shop if you want us to confirm which fitting on your bike takes this washer before you order.
