CIRCLIP,PISTON PIN BSA (71-3700 same)
Piston pin circlip, same part as BSA 71-3700, later listed as 71-3185.
This is a circlip for a piston pin (wrist pin), part number 66-0954. The catalog notes it as the same piece used under BSA number 71-3700, and it later carried on under the number 71-3185, so if your parts book lists any of those numbers you're looking at the same physical clip.

A piston pin circlip seats in a groove machined into each side of the piston boss and keeps the pin from working its way out sideways against the cylinder wall while the engine runs. They're small, cheap insurance against a scored bore, and they're not something to reuse once you've had them out.
We don't have a lot of extra catalog detail on this one beyond the cross reference and the BSA note. If you're not sure which piston or pin this needs to match up with, give us a call and we'll confirm before you order.
