MAINSHAFT CLUTCH WOODRUFF KEY - HALFMOON 5/32
Halfmoon 5/32 Woodruff key that keys the clutch hub to the gearbox mainshaft.
This is the Woodruff key that locates the clutch onto the gearbox mainshaft - a small halfmoon-shaped piece of steel that sits in a slot on the shaft and keys the clutch center to it so the two turn together without slipping. It's a halfmoon 5/32 key, and it shows up in the parts book under the CLUTCH and CLUTCH AND CLUTCH OPERATING MECHANISM figures, right where the mainshaft meets the clutch assembly.

Our catalog records list this part under 60-4253 going back through catalog listings spanning 1974 to 1985, and it carries an older factory number, S66-1, so if your parts book shows that number it's the same piece. It's a cheap part to have wrong or missing - a sheared or worn Woodruff key here will let the clutch hub work loose on the shaft, so it's worth checking condition any time the clutch is off.
Small as it is, get the fit right against your mainshaft slot before you button things back up. If you're not sure this is the exact key your gearbox needs, give us a call and we'll confirm before you order.
