LAYSHAFT 5 SPEED ASSEMBLY (SHAFT WITH 2 GEARS)
The five-speed gearbox layshaft assembly, a shaft fitted with two gears, used inside the transmission's internal gear train.
This is the layshaft assembly out of the five-speed gearbox, the shaft with two gears already fitted to it. In the gearbox, the layshaft runs alongside the mainshaft and carries part of the gear train that the selectors move to change ratios, so it's a core internal component rather than a simple bushing or shim.

Catalog records show this part number appearing across gearbox shafts and gears figures for the five-speed box, with coverage spanning the mid-to-late 1970s into 1980. If you're rebuilding a five-speed gearbox and pulling the old layshaft out for inspection, this is the assembly you'd be replacing it with.
Because this is an internal gearbox component with gears already mounted to the shaft, fitment specifics matter more than usual. Have your gearbox casing or parts book on hand to confirm this is the right layshaft for what you're rebuilding before you order.
