Gearchange ‘Quadrant
Gearchange quadrant for the gearbox outer cover assembly, part number 57-1942, later superseded by 57-4888.
This is the gearchange quadrant, part number 57-1942, listed in the catalog under the older T1942 form as well. It shows up in the gearbox outer cover and levers section, which puts it in the outer gearbox assembly where the foot change lever links up to the selector mechanism.

The quadrant is the pivoting arm that translates the movement of the gearchange pedal into rotation of the selector mechanism inside the box, moving the gears through their positions one click at a time. It sits right where the outer cover bolts on, so if you're in there for a rebuild or to sort out a change that's gone sloppy or won't index right, this is a part worth checking for wear on the pivot and the pawl engagement points.
Our records show this part was later superseded by 57-4888, so if you're chasing one down and can't find 57-1942 in stock, that's the number to look for as the direct factory replacement. The catalog shows this one appearing across gearbox outer cover listings from the mid-60s into 1970, but for exact model-year fitment on your machine, give us a call and we'll confirm before you order.
