PLUNGER SPRING -GEARBOX CAM PLATE 1963-68 TRIUMPH - 2.5INCHES LONG
The gearbox cam plate index plunger spring, 2.5 inches long, part of the selector mechanism inside the gearbox inner cover.
This is the plunger spring for the gearbox cam plate, part number 57-0373, also known under the older T373 designation. It's a small coil spring that lives in the gearbox inner cover assembly, working with the index plunger to hold the cam plate in each gear position as you shift.

The catalog lists it at 2.5 inches long, appearing in the parts book for 1968. If your gearbox has been shifting sloppy or has trouble settling into gear, a tired plunger spring is one of the usual suspects — it's a simple part but it does real work keeping the selector mechanism seated where it should be.
It's cheap enough to replace along with the plunger and housing when you've got the inner cover off anyway, rather than putting the cover back on and finding out the spring was the problem all along.
