This is a Lucas points set, new old stock, catalogued for 1963-67 machines. Points are the contact breaker parts that live inside the timing cover, opening and closing to trigger the ignition spark at the right moment. Over time the contact faces pit and wear, which throws off timing and can cause hard starting or a rough idle, so a fresh set is a normal service item.
