BSA Thrust washer, rocker spindle (3/8" I/D)
A 3/8 inch I/D thrust washer that locates the rocker arm on its spindle in the cylinder head.
This is a thrust washer that sits on the rocker spindle up in the cylinder head, with a 3/8 inch inside diameter to match the spindle it rides on. It's a small part but it does real work, keeping the rocker arm located side to side on its spindle so it doesn't wander and rub where it shouldn't.

You'll find it referenced in the cylinder head and rocker figures in the parts books, and it shows up across catalog listings from 1969 through 1972. The older alias form, 40-157, is the same part under the pre-dash numbering some earlier books used.
If you're doing a top end rebuild and pulling the rocker spindles out, it's worth checking this washer for wear along with the spindle and rocker bushes. Give the shop a call if you're not sure which rocker assembly on your engine takes this one.
