Balance weight (long)
A long-style wheel balance weight for spoked motorcycle wheels, fitted individually to true up front or rear wheel assemblies.
This is a wheel balance weight, the long-style, used to true up a spoked wheel so it runs smooth at speed. It clips onto a spoke near the rim and adds a bit of counterweight opposite the heavy side of the wheel and tire assembly, same idea as the weights a tire shop clips onto a car rim, just sized for a motorcycle spoke.

It shows up in the parts books for both front and rear wheel setups, including the rear wheel variants noted for use with the Smiths speedo drive box on the right-hand side and the Veglia speedo drive box on the left-hand side, so it's a wheel-building item rather than something tied to one specific corner of the bike. The catalog carries it under the legacy W3970 number as well as the current 37-3970.
These get fitted individually, however many it takes to balance out a given wheel, so don't assume a fixed set. If you're lacing a new rim or chasing a shimmy at speed, it's worth having a handful of these in the parts bin.
