REAR WHEEL SPINDLE 1971-8
Rear wheel spindle for 1971-1978 Triumph and BSA 650/750 twins with conical or disc rear hubs, part 37-3965.
This is the rear wheel spindle, part number 37-3965, the shaft the rear wheel spins on where it bolts into the swingarm. It's the piece that carries the whole rear hub assembly, whether your bike has the conical hub or the disc brake hub out back, and it's flanged under the head, which sets it apart from the later 37-7113 axle used on subsequent T140 production.

Catalog listings put this spindle across 1971 through 1978, showing up in the rear wheel and rear brake sections of the parts books, and it's also known under the older W3965 number if you're cross-checking an earlier book. Because the flange sits right under the head, don't assume it's a straight swap with the later non-flanged style axle without checking your hub setup first.
Spindles wear at the bearing and seal surfaces and bend if a bike's been dropped or ridden hard off a curb, so if you're chasing play in the rear wheel or a wobble that won't go away, it's worth pulling this and checking it against a straightedge before you blame the bearings.
