Backing ring
A backing ring for the quickly-detachable rear wheel hub, seating the wheel bearing against the hub casting.
This is the backing ring, PN 37-1509 (also listed under the older W1509 designation), that shows up in the quickly-detachable rear wheel figures for Triumphs from the mid-to-late 1960s. It's a small ring/washer that sits in behind the wheel bearing, giving the bearing a solid, flat surface to seat against rather than letting it bear directly on the hub casting.

Because it's tied to the QD (quickly detachable) rear wheel setup, this part is specific to bikes running that hub arrangement rather than the standard fixed rear wheel. The catalog shows it appearing across both the U.S.A. and non-U.S.A. versions of that figure, so it's a common fitment across those QD hub variants.
It's a cheap, easy part to overlook when a rear wheel is apart for bearing work, but it's worth checking that it's present and not distorted or missing before you button the hub back up. If you're rebuilding a QD rear hub, have this on hand along with the bearings and seals.
