Dip switch, energy transfer

Dip switch for Lucas energy transfer ignition and direct lighting systems, part number 31620.

PN · 31620

This is the dip switch listed in the electrical catalogs under energy transfer ignition setups, part number 31620. It shows up across the wiring harness and direct lighting diagrams, as well as alongside the ignition capacitor and headlamp assemblies on the T100C and TR6C listings, so it's tied into the lighting circuit on bikes running an energy transfer magneto system rather than a battery/coil setup with a separate alternator charging circuit.

A dip switch is what lets the rider swap the headlamp beam between high and low without taking a hand off the bars for long. On these energy transfer machines, the lighting circuit works a little differently than later battery-fed setups, so the switch has to be matched to that wiring rather than swapped in from a standard battery-ignition harness.

The catalog entries span 1963 through 1968 across several figures, so this part had a long run in the direct lighting diagrams of that era. If you're not sure whether your bike runs energy transfer ignition or a conventional battery/coil setup, give us a call before ordering so we can confirm which switch your harness needs.
