BSA Lining — brake shoe
A brake shoe lining for a front drum brake, the friction material that contacts the brake drum.
This is the friction lining that gets bonded or riveted to a brake shoe on the front wheel's drum brake. It's the wear surface — the part that actually contacts the inside of the brake drum and slows the wheel down when the brake lever is pulled and the cable tugs the shoes outward.

Our catalog record shows this lining showing up in front wheel drum brake listings for 1971 and 1972. It's tagged in our records under a BSA-style number, but the catalog entry doesn't spell out which specific machine it came off, so if you're trying to match this to your bike, give us a call and we'll confirm before you order.
Linings like this are a wear item — over time the material thins down and the brake loses bite, so replacing the lining (or the whole shoe if it's not a bonded replacement) is standard maintenance on a drum-brake front end.
We've never carried this one. Tell us what you're after and we'll go looking — you'll get a price and photos before you commit to anything.
