The speedo drive gearbox sits at the rear wheel and takes rotation off the axle to spin the speedometer cable, which in turn drives the needle in the speedo head. Getting the ratio right matters — a 2:1 drive paired with the wrong-range gauge will read speed incorrectly, so this one is meant to go with a 120 mph face.
