Oil seal for the front hub bearing, keeps grease in and dirt out.

This is the oil seal that fits the front hub bearing. Its job is to keep grease where it belongs inside the hub and keep road grit and water out of the bearing itself. Once this seal hardens or splits, the bearing runs dry or picks up dirt, and that shortens the life of the bearing fast.
